This is Skull Kid from Nintendo game Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. This was made custom for Alastair Vokach-Brodsky. You can order a custom doll with this level of detail of any character you want here- [link] Only $200! This probably took around thirty hours, so I basically did this for less than minimum wage. I probably shouldn't advertise that...
Okay, some detail information for crochet geeks...
The mask itself probably took about 8 hours, the base is thinish yarn with a 3.5 mm hook, while the details are done with embroidery thread with a hook that claims to be a 2, but that can't be standard sizing because my hook sizer only goes down to a 2 and it's way smaller than that. On top of that I did actual embroidery- not my strong suit, but I'm getting better at it.
The little 'wooden' loops that go around his belt and hat and shoes have wire bases in order to help them keep their shape. That is the only wire in the piece, everything else is just yarn, polyester stuffing, polyfill beads, and nylon thread.
He has very carefully shaped arms and legs- it's hard to see the muscle tone, but it's there. He has elbows! I've never done elbows before. I'll be putting a detail shot of his arms before they were attached/gloved here: [link]
Best piece yet, I think. I am really pleased with him. Please buy a custom doll from me so I can see if I can make one EVEN BETTER.
