Blaziken Pokemon Amigurumi by SadDaysCrochet Blaziken Pokemon Amigurumi by SadDaysCrochet
There's a long story behind this one...

When I first made this account here on DA :iconhinata-teh-lefty: liked my work and thought I was cool. This was a big deal! When I first started looking for commissions to do, she asked if I would do one for her later when she had some money saved up. I said "of course!" Then some months passed and I stopped taking commissions. But she was finally ready to request a commission, and I wasn't going to say "No way! I don't have time for people who supported my work from the very beginning!" so I agreed to do the commission anyway.

This was... months ago. Blaziken has been a back-burner project for me for a while, and *Hinata-teh-Lefty has been really cool about it! So thank you so much for that, and for being such a delight to work for! Anyway, she already has her Blaziken now, and I know she is very happy with it. Therefore I am very happy too!

Blaziken is a fire-type Pokemon, and as far as I can tell based on a chicken? I'm not into Pokemon (and I don't think I'll be making any more!) but I can see why there is so much poke-amigurumi out there! This was tons of fun to make. The bold colors and shapes of pokemon lend themselves perfectly to crochet. I had lots of fun using two colors to get those spikey fire legs right. I invented a new technique to get the big anime spikes just right! It's a combination of latch-hooking, brushing out, and special doll hair-gel (watered down fabric glue) to shape the spikes. I learnt lots of stuff making this guy!

All acrylic yarn crocheted over a wood and wire frame so he's posable. For some more photos you can check out my gallery here: [link]
I chose kind of an odd angle, but I love how well it shows off his spikes!

Yet another amazing piece! I was wondering when I would be seeing what the "flame pants" were going to turn into!
